Explore and Tour Banda Aceh

Banda Aceh is the capital of the Aceh province. It is interesting to visit the cemetery ‘Kerkhof’, where Dutch and Indonesian soldiers were buried during the thirty-year war between the rebellious Aceians against the Dutch colonial regime.

One of the most beautiful mosques in Indonesia is the Baturrahman Mosque in Banda Aceh, built by a Dutch architect in 1877 to create goodwill among the Acehnese people during this uprising.

The Tsunami of 2004

In Banda Aceh, you can see ships that have been washed ashore towards the center of the city by the tsunami flood of 2004. A large part of the city has been rebuilt with help from all over the world. Apart from Banda Aceh, many other cities have been restored and roads and hospitals have been rebuilt. The whole world has helped to rebuild the province of Aceh.
