The Dutch fort in Palembang, originating from the 18th. century, is still used by the Indonesian army.
Palembang on the Musi river already existed around 600 A.D. as the capital of the Srivijaya Kingdom.
Nowadays we can still see some remnants of this 1400 year old culture
in the two museums of Palembang. Starting at Palembang
you can take a boat trip along the huge Musi river.
